Resisting The Enemy
The other day we talked about what I referred to it as a spiritual freefall and how it affects our lives. When we face situations that shake our stand of faith, we can either cave into them or face them head on with more spiritual determination. The Apostle Peter put it this way in 1 Peter 5:7-9 (ESV), “(7) Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you—cast them on Him. (8) [Stay Alert] Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (9) Resist him, firm in your faith…”
Here’s where the rubber meets the road for putting your faith into action. You are to resist the enemy. God’s already defeated him so your stand against him is from a place of victory already won. You resist him each time he throws menacing thoughts of lack at you Don’t start mulling his thoughts over in your mind. You don’t let his thoughts detract from what Jesus has provided for you. You take God’s Word and chop the enemy to pieces with the power of His Word. The more you do, the more freedom you’ll experience and the stronger you’ll be. It’s spiritual freefall at its best.
